- Client: Mt Barker Regional Council, SA
- Year: 2015
- Collaboration: TCL
This wetland forms part of a broad ecological restoration of a former tannery site next to the Council’s Environmental Services Centre (ESC). The wetland offers a range of ecological habitats for vegetation and birds species including the endangered Lathan’s Snipe.
Walking paths, viewing decks and a boardwalk encourage people to enjoy the wetland but manage their access and create a variety of habitats (including riparian inundation, open grassland, tussock grassland and wet woodlands). Carefully aligned links to the Mt Barker Creek linear trail encourage visitors, yet maintain secluded areas where birds will not be disturbed.
